One way you can tell that Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is not a new ship is by its deck plan and layout. Some of the areas of the ship, such as the Port of Indecision buffet, show their age by being more cramped than what you'd expect on newer vessels. It was so hard to get a seat here that people resorted to carrying food all over the ship, leaving dirty dishes in lounges far away from the restaurant.

From a general, cheap getaway vantage, there are plenty to choose from leaving from Florida’s ports daily. It may be hard to line up some for a quick weekend getaway as timing can limit your choices but you certainly don’t have to sacrifice safety, sanitary conditions, nor comforts. Yet, there are people that actually enjoy and recommend this cruise so there’s definitely a market for what they have been offering, I’m just not that market and you might not be either. Half of one of the pool decks was completely roped off with caution tape and the part you could walk on had dips and weak spots hidden underneath badly worn synthetic grass.

Getting from one end of the ship to another can also be confusing, particularly on the upper decks, where there is no real through access without taking various staircases. We also found odd areas of dead space, particularly the Hangout on Deck 14, which seemed like a sports bar with no bartenders or guests.
For some dining experiences, it signifies a tradition of high-quality service steps. A good server that has been well trained may even take the “table zamboni” and with a twist of their wrist scoop and hold in one hand. If you’ve been almost elbowed in the face before, your server needs more practice. At 6 PM, I returned to guest service and our cabin was switched to #6069. Thank them for that, the bathroom floor did at least have a clean vinyl covering but I assure you it only covers up the same problems.

Once you're in the Bahamas, shore excursions are extra and you will have to pay to take transportation from the terminal in Freeport to any attractions, as there is nothing within walking distance. Other Bahamas stops include Bimini, which is less frequented, and cruise line private islands, which can only be accessed via cruise ship. East Coast and the number of ships it can accommodate at one time, most major cruise lines visit the islands there. However, I have to talk about my experience at Admiral’s on my last night of the cruise. I honestly had no idea what to expect but was pretty much blown away. My room steward did a tremendous job keeping my cabin clean with morning and evening service. He also made towel animals and placed chocolate on the pillows each evening. It was a nice little touch that I wasn’t expecting on a two night cruise.

Since June 2018, Bahamas Paradise ship crew and staff enjoy free of charge Wi-Fi Internet in ports and at sea. High-speed connections (up to 1 gigabit per second) allow even live video streaming from any location throughout the ship, including all crew areas. The Grand Vista Suite is the biggest, located on the uppermost deck… and all this altitude has a way of also elevating the view.
